How do you manage to move really heavy telephoto lenses as easily as a spring? With a gimbal mount, mounted on a powerful tripod. There are some names circulating for this useful, especially in the USA, very common device, which is called Gimbal Head. In the German language, the technical term gimbal head probably meets best, although many photographers say monkey swing.
Leofoto PG-2 / PG-2S.
The Leofoto PG-2 series gimbal heads are a great help for those photographers who want to follow fast-moving subjects from a specific location with a camera and long focal length. Just think of sporting events, reports or even animal watching.
The special highlight of these new gimbal heads is the possibility to fold the head compactly, so that they are not great ballast even on long tours. Additional tapped holes on the swivel arm allow mounting of accessories. Thanks to the panoramic scale and the can level, you can also use the head for single and multi-line panoramic shots.
They are available in two designs: the PG-2 offers a load capacity of max. 25 kg. The PG-2S of max. 15 kg.
For the metal parts, Leofoto uses the high-quality 6061-T6 aluminium alloy with magnesium and silicon as alloy components. This corrosion-resistant material is characterised by high strength and good toughness. The yield strength is comparable to mild steel. All parts are milled on state-of-the-art CNC machines from the full material and are therefore significantly more stable than cast parts. Leofoto makes no compromises here either.
